Union City, TN — Tasha Bowman, a Tennessee Army National Guard Veteran of 20 years, has been named a semi-finalist in Ms. Veteran America, a national competition that recognizes women Veterans who continue to serve through advocacy, leadership, and community engagement during and after military service.
Ms. Veteran America is not a traditional beauty pageant. The program places its primary emphasis on advocacy and public awareness, with a mission to support homeless women Veterans and those at risk of housing instability. Mrs. Bowman’s advocacy platform serves to uplift and advance the work of Final Salute Inc., whose mission is to end homelessness among women veterans. Her perspective is shaped by her lived experience as a Veteran and her work supporting vulnerable populations.
“Homelessness among women Veterans is not a reflection of character or work ethic,” Bowman said. “It’s usually the result of layered challenges—military sexual trauma, domestic violence, childcare barriers, underemployment, disabilities, and the difficult transition out of service. My goal is to help people understand how close many women Veterans are to crisis, and how prevention and support can make a lasting difference.”
As part of her role as a semi-finalist, Bowman will be fundraising on behalf of Final Salute Inc., the official nonprofit partner of Ms. Veteran America. Final Salute Inc. provides safe housing, financial assistance, and supportive services to homeless and at-risk women Veterans and their children nationwide.
In addition to fundraising, Bowman will be speaking at community events, raising awareness about women Veteran homelessness, mental health, and the importance of early intervention and local support systems.
Bowman resides in Union City, Tennessee and will compete in the Ms. Veteran America national semi-final competition, scheduled for June 13–14, 2026. If selected to advance as a finalist, she would compete in the final competition on October 11, 2026.
Throughout the competition season, Bowman plans to engage her local community through education, outreach, and partnerships with community-serving organizations to help increase knowledge and support for women Veterans across the state.
