Hazel, Ky.–A Hazel man tragically lost his life in a late night fire.
At 11:39 p.m., Calloway County Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire about one mile east of Hazel on State Line Road East. First arriving units found a heavily involved house fire with flames protruding from all sides.
Units were met with a report that someone was still inside the home. Within minutes, firefighters performed a search and found an elderly male in a bedroom. The victim was rescued from the home, but unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained from the fire.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Fire & Rescue officials said, “We offer our condolences to the victim’s friends and families. Your firefighters made every effort possible to have a better outcome. Please keep the victim’s family and firefighters in your prayers. It was a rough night.”
