Commissioners Approve Renovation Of County Property For Juvenile Court

cth-nov-17-better-3

Paris, Tenn.–Meeting in regular session Monday evening, the Henry County Commission approved authorization of the design and renovation of county-owned property at 311 E. Wood St. The property–which formerly was the Henry County Medical Center Wellness Center–will be converted to space for the Juvenile Court and related offices.

The vote came after much discussion at previous meetings. The juvenile court currently is located in the courthouse annex building on W. Washington St. As has been discussed and reported at length previously, that building is in deteriorated condition and county officials have been working to find other locations for the county offices there (that would include trustees, property assessor, register of deeds offices).

The vote was 12-1, with Commissioner Ralph Wiles voting no. (Commissioners James Higgins and Marty Visser were absent).

In other business, the Commission also approved a farm rental contract at the Henry County Airport between the county and Clint Diggs.

The resolution was tabled in February until the airport committee could meet and discuss it. Diggs, who was again present at Monday’s meeting, said in February that the farm has been in his family for 120 years. He said, “We continue to have a good relationship with the airport supervisor, like we always have.”

The vote was 11-2, with Commissioners David Flowers and Ralph Wiles voting no.
