Both the Union City High School and UC Middle School bands again measured up to their lofty expectations recently.
The high school version of the Tornadoes received a Superior rating in their prepared performance and were also judged Superior in the sightreading performance category of the WTSBOA Concert Performance Assessment on Thursday of last week.
The high school group also earned the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Sweepstakes, a designation that recognizes excellence in marching and concert band performances.
That award will be presented to UCHS representatives at the 2027 Tennessee Music Educator Association conference in January of 2027.
One day earlier last week, Union City’s middle school band earned an Excellent rating in its prepared performance and a Superior rating in its Sightreading performance.
Veteran directors Jason Deem and Joe Davis were understandably pleased with the assessments’ results.
“The Union City Bands represented our school system extremely well by giving two great performances,” Deem said. “Once again, this is a testament to the hard work of our students and their commitment to the continued excellence of our programs.”
