Union City added Greenfield to its list of tennis conquests on Wednesday, blanking the Yellowjackets in both boys’ and girls’ play at the Middle School courts.
The much-improved Tornado boys improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in District 14A with their 7-0 triumph over a G’field squad that had just two players.
The Twisters lost just one game in three matches and were credited with four forfeit wins due to the ‘Jackets’ limited roster.
UC’s girls had to work a little harder in their victory, but still remained unbeaten (7-0, 4-0).
Emma Jane Rice and Briley Kate McKinney each posted shutout singles victories, while McKinney and Allie Vincent teamed to win 8-0 in doubles play.
Union City is back in action today, hosting Huntingdon at 4 p.m.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
Murray 14, UC 4
The theme was the same for the young Tornado team as in several of their other losses this season, as five untimely errors led to eight unearned Murray runs.
The host Tigers scored in five of their six at-bats, putting up four runs in the fourth and sixth frames.
Jack Theobald reached base three times for UC (2-5) with two walks and a single. Theobald scored a run and drove in another. Ben Howell had a run-scoring double, while Christian Vaughn and Preston Creswell were also credited with RBIs.
Will Kail singled and scored a run.
Howell, the Tornadoes’ starting pitcher, was charged with eight runs in 3 2/3 innings, but just three of those were earned. Mason St. Germain and Jack Lattus pitched in relief.
Union City will play at Carlisle County today.
