Paris, Tenn. – National Public Health Week, April 6-12 is a time to highlight the many services  available to the public at all local health departments in Tennessee and to recognize the great  work public health does every day.

The Henry County Health Department is proud to offer numerous health programs and  services including:

  • Primary Care – Primary care services including acute illness and chronic disease  management are provided by licensed medical staff.
  • Immunizations – Childhood and adult vaccinations are available to protect against  many diseases.
  • GIFTS Tennessee’s pregnancy smoking cessation program.
  • TNSTRONG Youth-led movement advocating for tobacco-free lifestyles.
  • Women, Infants and Children, or WIC – Supplemental nutrition for mothers and young  children.
  • Birth and Death Certificates Certified copies of birth certificates can be obtained for  Tennessee births. Certified copies of death certificates can also be obtained for deaths  occurring in Tennessee.
  • Family Planning – Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings, immunizations, health check-ups,  Pregnancy Testing and Counseling and more.

The Henry County Health Department is planning and participating in the following activities for  National Public Health Week

Wednesday, April 8th: Free Narcan (naloxone) kits, blood pressure checks, and health education  materials will be available at the Henry County Courthouse Annex from 9:00am – 12:30pm.  Narcan is a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose, and increasing access  helps prevent avoidable deaths. Health department staff will provide brief, confidential guidance  on using Narcan safely. Attendees can also pick up information on health department services,  substance misuse support, and other services available to Henry County residents.

Saturday, April 11th: Spring Drug Take Back at McNeill Park from 9 AM – 11 AM. This event provides  residents with a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired  prescription and over-the-counter medications. Proper disposal helps prevent medication misuse,  accidental poisoning, and environmental contamination.
