Ooltewah, TN — Hunter Middle School’s annual Career Fair recently welcomed a special guest whose life of service left a lasting impression on students. William “Junior” Milam of Henry, a veteran of the Army National Guard, volunteered his time to share his experiences, wisdom, and encouragement with young people preparing to think about their futures.

Milam served 21 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. During his military career, he was awarded the Bronze Star, a reflection of his courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving his country.

Speaking with students throughout the day, Milam shared personal stories from his years of service and spoke about the importance of discipline, perseverance, and finding purpose in serving something greater than oneself. His message resonated with students, who engaged warmly and asked thoughtful questions about life, leadership, and future opportunities.

Beyond his military service, Milam is known for his continued dedication to others, often giving his time to support local organizations and community efforts. His visit to the career fair reflected that same spirit of service—offering students not just career insight, but a genuine example of a life shaped by commitment and purpose.
