
Puryear, Tenn.–It will be the town of Puryear’s time to shine this weekend for the annual Puryear Day Celebration. And this year, they’re celebrating the town’s 117th birthday.
There will be plenty of activities–and good food–awaiting everyone Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9. There will be a parade, live bands, 5k and 10k run, silent auction, tug-of-war, mechanical bullriding, arts and crafts vendors, karaoke, dessert auctions, kids games, frog jumping contest, longest beard contest.
Grand Marshal of the parade is Mayor Kenny Gallimore. The parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Ray Lewis Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, with Johnny Mac set to perform at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Saturday activities include: The walk/runs are at 8 a.m.; High Noon, Battle of the Badges tug-of-war with Paris PD and Henry County Sheriff’s Office; free frog jumping 11 a.m.; cake walk, 11:30 a.m., longest beard contest, 11;30 a.m.; 12:30, mural ribbon-cutting.
Puryear Day activities continue through 10 p.m. Saturday. There will be dozens of vendors, as well as several food trucks including Lions Club BBQ, Geeber’s, Handheld and Nana’s Treats.
