
Dresden, Tenn.–Four fire departments battled a blaze at a commercial structure Tuesday evening within the city limits of Dresden. The storage facility was a total loss.
On May 19th, at approximately 5:55 PM, Dresden Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire on East Main Street within the city limits. Dresden Fire responded with three engines, one brush truck, and 14 personnel.
Upon arrival, command reported heavy smoke showing from the A-side of the structure. Engine 1 arrived on scene and initiated an aggressive interior fire attack through the A-side front entrance. After approximately 10 minutes, fire conditions intensified and began venting through the roof. For firefighter safety, all personnel were withdrawn from the structure and operations transitioned to a defensive attack.
Mutual aid was requested from Martin, Sharon, and Palmersville Fire Departments for additional personnel and resources. Ladder 1 from Martin Fire/EMS responded to assist with defensive firefighting operations utilizing their aerial ladder.
Approximately 35 firefighters from four agencies assisted on the scene. Crews remained on scene for nearly five hours extinguishing the blaze and conducting overhaul operations. Personnel also responded back overnight to extinguish hotspots that had redeveloped.
