Dresden, Tenn.–A pickup truck was destroyed by a fire caused by a used fireworks tube that had been left inside the vehicle after it was used.
The Dresden Fire Department was called to the vehicle fire on Pikeview Street at 7:44 p.m. July 4.
Engine 1 arrived on scene to find the four-door pickup truck with the cab involved in fire. An fire attack was started and successfully contained the fire within approximately 10 minutes of arrival.
Following an investigation, the fire was determined to have originated from a used fireworks tube that had been left inside the vehicle after use.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no nearby structures were damaged. The Dresden Fire Department remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes before clearing the incident.
As a reminder, always ensure used fireworks are completely extinguished and cooled before disposal, and never leave spent fireworks inside a vehicle or near combustible materials.
