Union City, Tenn.–There’s more shuffling going on within the basketball coaching ranks at Union City Schools.

With boys’ assistant Antawn Coby having taken the head coach job with the Lady Tornadoes early last week, a void was left on the Twister bench.

Andre Coby, the UC Middle School boys’ head coach the past five years, will move across the street to assume the role held by his cousin, Antawn, the last six seasons. Andre Coby will join paraprofessional aides Marty Sisco and Ronald Ward on the Tornado bench for the 2020-21 campaign.

Bill Kail, who served as an assistant on Andre Coby’s staff last year and is the head UCMS baseball coach, will take over as head boys’ basketball coach at Union City Middle School.

Kail spent 20 years in the Obion County School System and was the head boys’ basketball at Obion County Central the majority of that time before coming to UC Schools prior to the 2019-20 year. He also coached in the middle school ranks at both Hillcrest and Lake Road.

UCHS head coach Shane Sisco confirmed the moves and claimed he was pleased with the pieces in place in the Tornado program heading into next season.

“Andre brings a familiarity and a rapport he has established with these players at the MS level,” Sisco said. “As a former player in our program, he was someone who was a student of the game and paid attention to detail. These characteristics — along with the fact that he understands what the expectations of the program are — will make him a tremendous asset.

“Bill obviously has a wealth of coaching experience, most of that being a head coach. Having been a head coach at the high school level, he understands the importance of skill development and how important it is in the success of your high school program. I have no doubt that our middle school kids will receive tremendous instruction as he has proven to have a tremendous work ethic.”
