Decatur Co. Mayor Mike Creasy announced Tuesday that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Creasy posted the following on Facebook Tuesday morning:

“Due to testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday, August 3rd, I will be out of the office until August 13, 2020. With this being said, the Decatur County Mayor’s office will be closed to the public until then. Fortunately, with the courthouse being closed on Friday and the weekend, my staff had very little exposure to me. To err on the side of caution, my staff will undergo testing, the office will undergo a disinfectant regimen, and will be closed to the public.

As of now, other than for fever spikes of 103 degrees, my symptoms have been mild. Remember to practice social distancing, good personal hygiene, and wear face coverings to help slow down or stop the spread of this virus.

Also, please remember the families that are enduring the loss of love ones over the last few days. It’s never easy to lose anyone, but the Great Comforter will guide our hearts, our minds and our spirit with his loving grace.
