Two TWRA-Leased Public Dove Fields In Henry County

Henry County, Tenn.–There will be two TWRA Leased Public Dove fields in Henry County beginning next week as Tennessee’s dove season commences September 1.
TWRA Wildlife Officer Greg Barker said both fields are near Puryear and within five miles of one another.  “Wheat was sown yesterday.  We are seeing several doves right now.  We are not sure how the coming rains will affect the hunting.  This program is a great way to provide hunting opportunity for our area,” he said.
Field 1 (Mill Creek Road, Puryear, TN)
Location:
From Paris take HWY 641 North to Puryear.  At Puryear, turn West onto HWY 140.  Travel approximately 4.0 miles to Mill Creek Road.  Turn North onto Mill Creek Road and travel approximately 2.9 miles to field entrance on the East side of the road.  The field entrance is just before 3360 Mill Creek Road.  Signs will be posted at field entrance.  Parking will be designated by signs.
Field description:
40 acres of top sown wheat for pasture renovation.
Dates open:
Tuesday, September 1 beginning at noon.  Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7.
Dove hunting only.  No Canada Goose hunting allowed.
Field 2 (HWY 140 West of Puryear)
Location:
From Paris take HWY 641 North to Puryear.  At Puryear, turn West onto HWY 140.  Travel approximately 4.9 miles to field entrance on the South side of road.  Field entrance is about 0.9 miles past Mill Creek Road.  Signs will be posted at field entrance.  Parking will be designated by signs.
Field description:

Tuesday, September 1 beginning at noon.  Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7.
Dove hunting only.  No Canada Goose hunting allowed.
Be mindful of possible wet field and parking area conditions.  Be respectful of property and property owner.  Pick up spent shot shells and garbage.  Trash barrels will be provided at field entrance.  Practice social distancing.  Hand sanitizer and protective masks will be provided at a table near parking areas but are not required.  Practice safe gun handling and shooting.  Enjoy the outdoors.
