Martin, Tenn.–The “Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020 Special Presented by the Tennessee Titans”, featuring recent University of Tennessee at Martin inductee Bettye Giles, will air online and in major television markets statewide this Saturday, Aug. 29.
The event celebrating sports in the Volunteer State will be hosted by Mike Keith, the voice of the Tennessee Titans. Sports fans can hear stories and acceptance speeches of the 11-person induction class, along with candid interviews from those they mentored and inspired along the way.
The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020 includes Tim Corbin, Terry Crisp, Tony Delk, Jeff Fisher, Giles, Dick Horton, Heath Shuler, Bruton Smith, Sonny Smith, Carl Torbush and DeAngelo Williams. While the traditional induction ceremony was cancelled because of health concerns, plans are being made to honor the Class of 2020 in-person at a future event.
Giles, a national pioneer for women’s athletics, received her Class of 2020 award on Aug. 11 during a brief ceremony held at the Dunagan Alumni Center on the UT Martin campus. Brad Willis, Chief Advancement and Operations Officer of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, was on hand to present Giles with her award.
