Paris, Tenn.–If you have been on Facebook over the last few weeks, it is likely you have seen or at least heard about Paris Board of Public Utilities’ “Elf Barry.” Since November 27th, Elf Barry has been creating mischief and spreading joy across Paris and Henry County. But as Christmas approaches, Elf Barry is making his plans to head back to the North Pole.

Known now as just Elf Barry, Paris BPU Manger-Energy Solutions, Barry Flood has given Paris and Henry Countians an inside look at not only some of the Paris BPU functions, like the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Accounting Department, but also highlighted some of Paris BPU’s community partners like the Paris and Henry County Food Bank, Chamber of Commerce and Henry County Helping Hand.

“As a public power provider, we are deeply rooted in our community and love the opportunity to engage with members of our community,” said Meagan Hart, Paris BPU Manger-Brand Solutions and Strategic Communication. “As with most things in 2020, our chances to engage with our customers have been limited due to COVID precautions. To end the year on a high note, we wanted to feature some of our community partnerships as well as our services while also spreading a little cheer.”

Although Elf Barry’s time is coming to an end, he still has one more appearance before heading home on Christmas Eve. Tune into the Paris BPU Facebook Page on Christmas Eve at 7:30 pm for a special reading of “The Night Before Christmas” with Paris BPU President & CEO, Terry Wimberley, and a farewell message from Elf Barry.

“When Meagan asked me to do this, I never dreamed it would get the kind of positive response it has,” said Flood. “Almost daily I have people stopping me to talk about the elf’s shenanigans or just tell me how much they have enjoyed following along. It just makes me really happy to know I could help spread a little joy in a year like this.”
