
Murray, Ky.–For the second day in a row, Murray High School was evacuated and searched this morning. Today, the search was conducted after the Murray Police Department received a call saying there were bombs in the school; on Monday, a report of gunshots was reported to officials.
Today at approximately 8:10 AM, the Murray Police Department received a call stating there were bombs at Murray High School. Multiple officers were already on scene and alerted the school to the call. Bomb squad units and the ATF were notified as well. The school was evacuated and a sweep of the school was performed. The campus was thoroughly searched multiple times, and it was officially determined to be safe around 10:25 AM.
Kentucky State Police, Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Murray State University Police, and the ATF assisted on scene.
On Monday at 8:54 AM, the Murray Police Department received a report of someone hearing a gunshot at the Murray High School. Our officers, along with officers and deputies from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and the Murray State University Police Department
responded to the high school and cleared the entire campus. While clearing the buildings, no evidence of a gunshot was located. All students and staff are safe.
The investigation is ongoing.
