Paris, Tenn.–Work on the city of Paris’ Healthy Place playground has begun and if all goes well, should be completed in 60 days.
The city of Paris was awarded a $750,000 grant from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation in December of 2020. There is no local match required for the project.
The playground is being constructed at the Eiffel Tower Park where the old tennis court was located.
Workers from Game Time Recreation arrived Wednesday to begin work on the project.
Paris Parks and Recreation Director Tony Lawrence said the playground is for all ages and is handicapped accessible. “There’s a treasure trove of activities in the playground. There’s just so much stuff. There will be three separate towers to climb on, swing sets, adult fitness stations, a little bit of everything.”
City officials were excited to receive the grant and excited to see it begin. They had applied for the grant a couple of years before the award was announced.
