Union City, Tenn.–The Obion County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy is ongoing and at its last class learned about Criminal Interdiction.
Captain Watkins, Investigator Willcutt and K9 Handler Pinion led the class through the various types of criminal activity they see on the highways in Obion County, and some of the methods they use to detect narcotics.
Students in the class were able to search vehicles themselves in attempts to locate hidden items to simulate the way smugglers hide narcotics, paraphernalia, and weapons. They also listened to the difference in loaded tires and empty tires, and ended the evening with everyone’s favorite K9s Ziko and Zita.
