Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff’s Office along with the Henry County Highway Department is asking everyone to keep the roadways of Henry County free of litter.
Sheriff Josh Frey said, “As the weather gets pretty outside, we understand that everyone is outside and sprucing up their property. In the process, many of you are hauling items from your property to the landfill. We ask that when you are hauling items off, please remember to tarp or secure the loads in such a manner as to prevent the items from falling off your trailer or truck. Reminder that according to T.C.A Code 39-14-507 all loads must be tarped.”
Both departments are working together each day to make Henry County a beautiful place to live, Frey said.
The highway department furnishes an employee to oversee inmates from the Henry County Jail on a daily basis to pick up roadside trash. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking to expand the litter program by adding another officer to oversee additional inmates to help pick up roadside trash.
“We will make every effort possible to look into illegal dumping and prosecute the persons responsible for the illegal dumpsite”, according to the Sheriff.
