Buchanan, Tenn.–A house and two vehicle were destroyed in a Thursday afternoon fire in Buchanan, but thankfully no one was injured.
Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reggie Coles said when the department arrived at the home at 148 Bass Dr. at 2:30 p.m., the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Homeowners Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gunderson told firefighters they had left approximately 30 minutes before the incident. Coles said another female family member was at home and said she heard a noise and smelled smoke and discovered the fire in the back of the house coming from the ceiling.
The home and two nearby vehicles were a total loss, Coles said. Damage is estimated at $200,000.
“The exact cause has not been determined but appears accidental,” he said.
Mutual aid was received from the Puryear Volunteer Fire Department who sent one truck and 6 personnel and from Calloway County Fire Rescue which sent four tankers and 12 personnel. Paris Landing had three trucks and 10 personnel on the scene for three hours.
Thursday was an especially busy one for the Paris Landing Fire Department, which also was on the scene of Thursday morning’s fire at TRW Storage in Paris.
