
Waverly, Tenn.–At the request of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), the Tennessee Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (TN-HART) is deploying three teams to Humphreys County to assist with ongoing water rescue efforts.
The Carroll County Fire & Rescue Team is headed to Waverly and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is providing personnel and equipment.
Waverly is cut off and 1-40 is shut down in both directions near the 153 mile marker.
Emergencies have been issued in Dickson, Hickman, Humphreys and Houston Counties, with rain of monumental proportions–from 8 to 12 inches in some areas–in a short period of time.
The Carroll County Fire & Rescue Team is headed to Waverly and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is providing personnel and equipment.
The Benton County Highway Department set up a semi truck and trailer at the Benton County Sheriff Department for food and water to be carried to Waverly.
Ashland City Fire Department and City of Dickson Fire Department Swift Water Teams have been deployed together to several water emergencies in the area. Teams are currently headed to Humphreys County, responding to more water emergencies.
Hardin County Fire Department swift water rescue team has been deployed to the Waverly area to assist in the rescues.
The Nashville Fire Department and the Nashville Office of Emergency Management is also sending four Swift-Water Rescue teams comprised of 4 personnel from NFD and OEM to assist with water rescues.
TN-HART teams are made of members of NFD, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and the Tennessee Air National Guard.
In coordination with the Dickson County EMS, the Dickson Y is open for anyone who is displaced because of the flooding. They will have showers, cots, and food available.
The McEwen High School gymnasium (new gym) will be open for anyone seeking emergency shelter from the flood. We are not currently a fully operational shelter, but they can provide a dry, safe, short-term place for you to stay. The McEwen Church of Christ is also open for this purpose.
