baptist-uc-jpg

Union City, Tenn.–Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases and its extreme contagiousness of the Delta variant, Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City is reporting a strain on the health care system and has announced emergency room restrictions.

Obion County currently is reporting 337 active COVID cases.

The following is the statement from Baptist Memorial-Union City:

“The recent sharp increase in COVID-19 cases and the extreme contagiousness of the latest COVID-19 variant have put a strain on our health care system and workers who have tirelessly battled this pandemic for more than a year. To help us continue to provide the highest quality of care for you and the community, we encourage you to use the emergency department for situations you deem emergent or urgent. However, if you are feeling generally unwell or need COVID-19 testing, please schedule an appointment with your provider. For the safety of our patients and staff, visitation in our emergency department is restricted. Currently, the only visitors allowed will be parents or legal guardians of pediatric patients. Exceptions will be made for patients who need care provided by a support person. Face masks are required for patients and visitors in all areas of the hospital. If you haven’t already gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, please make an effort to get it. Thank you for all of your support, prayers and well wishes for our health care team during this global pandemic. By working together, we can overcome this surge, stay safe and move in a more positive direction.”
