Two-Vehicle Collision Claims Life Of Murray Man

Murray, Ky.–A 74-year-old Murray man died in a two-vehicle collision that also injured the other driver.
James L. Sills was pronounced dead at the scene by Calloway County Coroner Ricky Garland. According to the press release from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Sills’ cause of death is believed to be related to injuries he received during the collision.
The other driver, Jordan S. Abren, age 23, also of Murray, was transported by the Murray-Calloway County EMS to the county hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries that she received during the collision.
Around 1 p.m. Monday, December 27, deputies with the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Highway 80 and Bethel Road for a report of a two vehicle injury collision. Upon their arrival, they located two vehicles with significant damage from the collision.
Preliminary investigation has indicated James Sills was driving a brown Chevrolet truck eastbound on Bethel Road and Jordan Abren was driving a black Ford Fusion eastbound on Highway 80. Witnesses to the collision indicated Sills failed to stop at the stop sign and failed to yield the right of way to Abren’s vehicle.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted on scene by Calloway County Fire-Rescue and Air Evac.
