
Paris, Tenn.–Both Henry County and Paris City government offices will remain closed Friday due to the treacherous road conditions, which will worsen as temperatures continue to drop.
Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway announced county general government offices will remain closed Friday Jan 7 due to winter weather. This includes the Courthouse, Annex, Airport, Health Dept, Recycling Center, Central Building, Election and Archives, and other general govt offices.
County EMA Director Ron Watkins said, “Temperatures will continue to drop causing continued hazardous road conditions tomorrow. Offices should be open on Monday for normal operations.”
Paris City officials said the decision to remain closed through Friday “has been made due to the treacherous state of streets, sidewalks and parking lots.” The public is urged “to remain off the streets when at all possible and be very vigilant of the City, State and County road equipment as they work to clear the roadways.”
The storm shelter at Inman School opened Thursday afternoon as a warming shelter. It will remain open through Friday evening and remain open if needed after that.
The City of Paris is announcing the following closings due to weather conditions:
- Paris City Hall is closed Friday, January 7.
- Paris Civic Center will be closed Friday, January 7; a decision on Saturday openings will be announced.
- Paris Animal Shelter will remain closed Friday, a decision will be announced for Saturday.
- Paris-Henry County Landfill will remain closed Friday, a decision will be made about Saturday’s opening.
- City Commission Meeting for Thursday was rescheduled for Thursday, 1/13/2022 at 5:00 pm.
- Paris Municipal City Court ws canceled for Thursday and will be rescheduled at a later date. Please call (731) 641-1413 to reschedule.
- Paris Public Works is currently finishing sanitation routes. If they do not make it to your house, TEXT Public Works at 333-9584 to be picked up another date (weather permitting).
- All emergency services including public works will continue their regular responsibilities as well as weather related services.
- Also, please note that the storm shelter at Inman School will be opening this afternoon at 2:45 p.m. as a warming shelter. It will remain open through Friday evening and remain open if needed after that.
