Dresden Rebuilding Underway As Cleanup Continues

dresden-grapple-truck

Dresden, Tenn.–Clean up efforts have continued this week in Dresden as property owners, volunteers, and hired contractors have been busy throughout the tornado impact area cleaning up debris, demolishing destroyed buildings, and working to rebuild buildings that were damaged or destroyed. The area was struck by a massive tornado on December 11 which destroyed government buildings, churches, businesses and homes.
Mayor Jeff Washburn said property owners are still requested to bring debris to the side of, but not on, streets and highways for eventual pick-up. Vegetative debris, such as trees and limbs, should be placed in stacks separate from construction debris as there are two separate processes to dispose of each type of debris. Construction debris will be required to be transported to a licensed landfill and tree debris can be piled up and burned at designated sites.
Please be cautious in areas where demolition is taking place because of heavy equipment and trucks operating in the area.
The City of Dresden took delivery of a grapple truck on Wednesday morning that was purchased at a city board meeting earlier in the month. The truck was put into service immediately following delivery and training on the use of the grappling device to pick up debris.
