Dresden, Tenn.–Volunteers to assist in the disaster recovery effort for Dresden are still needed as they continue to clean up after the tornado destroyed much of the city in December. Mayor Jeff Washburn said help is needed to remove debris and bring it to the street for pick up by the clean up contractor once FEMA requirements are met to commence operations.
“We want to invite persons desiring to volunteer to keep Dresden as a location to work and assist in this vital clean up process. We are far from finished and welcome your assistance as we move forward,” Washburn said.
To volunteer on any day Monday through Friday, go to the Tornado Recovery Center after 8 a.m. to be assigned a work site. Go to the Weakley County Professional Development Center on Highway 22.
“Lastly, we want to thank everyone who has helped in the enormous clean-up process that has already taken place. A tremendous amount of progress has already taken place and we are eternally grateful to each and every one that has assisted,” he said.
