Paris, Tenn.–Austin Page and his wife Madeline were all smiles after Saturday night’s Demolition Derby as he came in second place and had the big $1,000 check to prove it. Winner of the Derby was Zachary Sullivan, who won $2,000.
There was standing room only for the Demolition Derby, which was the nightcap for the kick-off events for the World’s Biggest Fish Fry.
General Manager Jordan Holland said the crowd was so large that the concession stand ran out of food and they had to make more runs to the local store. “The concession stands just never stopped,” Holland said. “It was crazy”.
In fact, there were great turnouts for all of the events Saturday–the Hushpuppy Dash 5K and the Car Show. “We had a great first day. The weather was great and everybody turned out for the events,” he said.
The Fish Fry continues all through next week and Monday’s event is the annual Street Dance from 7-9 p.m. in downtown Paris, with Entertainment by the Ray Lewis Band. Free admission. The carnival opens on Tuesday at the fairgrounds and the Country Dance will be held at the fairgrounds, with The James Greer Band, admission $5.
