Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Sheriff’s deputies and Paris Police officers have spent this week familiarizing themselves with the schools in Henry County.
Officers have conducted walk-throughs at the schools along with discussion on how law enforcement would handle an active shooter in the schools.
Sheriff Josh Frey and Paris Police Chief Ricky Watson have been partnering to present information on school safety to the schools. They have spoken before the teachers in the Paris Special Schools District and the Henry County Schools system as part of the district’s Back to School programs.
Frey said they have been talking to teachers about school safety and how officers will respond in emergencies.
Both departments do have access to master keys for each school and procedures are in place to advance towards any threat at a school, Frey said.
“We wish the students and teachers of the both schools a safe year,” he said.
