Lewis Shepherd

Mr. Lewis Shepherd, 84, of Indian Mound, Tennessee, was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Stewart County the beloved son of the late Ulis Calvin and Emmadee Burkhart Shepherd. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 57 years: Florence Burkhart Shepherd, his brother: Douglas Shepherd and a sister: Dorothy Finney.

Lewis was an active member for over 20 years serving as captain and assistant fire chief with the Stewart County Fire Service. He was instrumental in the fire department with helping to build one of the first fire trucks for the department and along with other members of the community, built the first fire station at Red Top. He attended the Rose Valley Church in Indian Mound, Tennessee. He was a hard worker and provider for his family, retiring from the Trane Company. He also worked on the farm raising tobacco in his younger years.

He leaves behind those that loved him dearly: son: Lewis Shepherd, Jr.; daughter: Cindy Schoolfield; sister: Nancy Evans; niece and caregiver: Kelly Watters; grandchildren: Chris Schoolfield (Riley), Deanna Schoolfield (David) and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and service will be held at Anglin Funeral Home Monday, December 26, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the hour of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers: Chris Schoolfield, David Jenkins, Kelly Watters, Chris Watters, Timmy Wallace and Chris Smith.
