Ash Wednesday Service At First United Methodist

fumc-stained

Paris, Tenn.–On Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22nd, the community is invited to a service of the Imposition of Ashes at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of Paris First United Methodist, located at 101 East Blythe Street. The ancient tradition of being marked with ash is symbolic not only of our need for repentance (change), but also as a reminder of our mortality.

Following the brief time of worship, attendees will be invited to experience a walk on a labyrinth, also an ancient spiritual tradition that invites reflective meditation. The labyrinth will be available for walking from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and again following the Imposition of Ashes in the sanctuary.

After the 6 p.m. service there will also be other interactive prayer stations in the gym, along with the labyrinth. All ages are welcome to participate, and a nursery will be provided for infants and toddlers.
