Dyersburg police responded to Fair Street, Dyersburg, Sunday, October 9, 2022, in reference to an unresponsive infant in a bathtub. The infant was transported by ambulance to West Tennessee Healthcare, Dyersburg, where the infant was pronounced dead. Dyersburg police detectives launched an investigation and determined that the infant was left in the bathtub with another child while the mother, Kathryn Denice Williams, left the children unattended and fell asleep in her bedroom. The preliminary medical findings were consistent to that of a drowning victim. The final autopsy results are still pending.
Kathryn Denice Williams, 42, was indicted by the Dyer County Grand Jury in February for reckless homicide in connection with her 9-month-old child’s death. Williams was arraigned in Dyer County Circuit earlier this month. Her next court appearance is April 18th. The Department of Children Services assisted in the investigation.
