Hardin County, Tenn.–One person was rescued and one is still missing in the Tennessee River near the Pickwick Dam after rescue operations overnight.

Hardin County firefighters were called around 5:44 p.m. Thursday to the Tennessee River some two miles below the Pickwick Dam on a call of a boating accident.

According to the Hardin County Fire Department, initial reports indicated two people were in the water and a boat going in circles on the river.

Firefighters in a rescue boat located one adult male on the west bank of the river.  He was transported to the boat ramp and evaluated by EMS.

The second adult male did not make it to shore and is still missing.

The search was suspended last night and will resume this morning. TWRA and the Hardin county sheriffs department are investigating the accident.

The fire department officials said, “Our thoughts and prayers for all involved.”
