BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Kambree Lucas and Olivia O’Keefe, stars on the University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad, were spotlighted as the Ohio Valley Conference Pair of the Week today.
Today’s announcement marks the third time this season that Lucas, a junior from Brazil, Ind. and O’Keefe, a junior from Scottsdale, Ariz., have earned the OVC Pair of the Week honor. Overall, the Skyhawks have accounted for four of the six OVC weekly awards this spring and 10 times in 19 chances since the award’s inception in 2020.
Lucas/O’Keefe helped UT Martin go a perfect 4-0 last week, extending the program’s winning streak to a school-record 10 matches. The Skyhawks traveled to Chattanoga, Tenn. for the Scenic City Showdown and defeated Chattanooga (5-0), Carson-Newman (5-0), Liberty (5-0) and Eastern Kentucky (4-1), improving to 16-6 in the process.
Playing at the No. 2 position, Lucas/O’Keefe collected a 21-15, 21-8 victory against their Chattanooga counterparts and followed that with a 21-10, 21-12 triumph against Carson-Newman on Friday. After a 21-10, 21-11 win over Liberty to start Saturday’s action, they rounded out their perfect week with a 21-18, 21-11 triumph against Eastern Kentucky.
Lucas/O’Keefe have now won 10 consecutive decisions and are 17-5 on the season, competing in both the No. 1 (4-2) and No. 2 (13-3) slots in the lineup.
UT Martin plays a pair of home matches this afternoon against North Alabama (3 p.m.) and Austin Peay (5 p.m.) before heading to Atlanta, Ga. for the GSU Diggin’ Duals on Friday, April 7 through Saturday, April 8.
