Dover, Tenn.–It’s the training that is needed and no one hopes is ever used.
Late last week, active shooter training was conducted at the Stewart County Schools with law enforcement, the School Resource Officers, teachers and administrators.
The active shooter training covered everything from applying tourniquets and aiding gunshot victims to what teachers and law enforcement should expect in such traumatic incidents.
The two-day course was put together by Sgt. Del Morgan, Cadiz Police Department Major Tyler Thomas and Sgt. SRO Jack Lingenfelter and Christian County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Oxford.
Sheriff Frankie Gray said the training was well received by all participants. The new deputies from Stewart County Sheriff’s Office who had never had this training attended as well as members of the U.S. Forest Service and the National Park Service. Kudos to all who attended as well as Major Tyler Thomas of Cadiz Police Department and Stewart County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Del Morgan who was instrumental in putting this training together. Gray said, “Also a Big Thank You to Ken and Holly Klein of Midway Pizza for helping the Sheriff’s Office put together the lunch for everyone on Friday.”
