
Union City, Tenn.–Water rescues and evacuations continue in Union City and Obion County this afternoon as communities keep battling the flooding caused by heavy downpours. Since midnight, an estimated 8-14 inches of rain has fallen. Businesses and roadways are closed and evacuations continue. Green Acres Mobile Home Park was evacuated and residents have lost all their belongings.
Life-threatening flash flooding is being reported from Hickman, Kentucky, to Obion County.
The Union City Police Department has been posting road closures on its Facebook page and issued a thank you–“We would like to say Thank You to Walmart for donating multiple life jackets for our recovery efforts today. To all the agencies that assisted, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Obion County Rescue squad, Obion County Sheriff’s Department and all volunteers, Thank you! Also Thank You to Twin Oaks for the lunch you provided.”
