Paris, Tenn.–The public is invited to a candlelight vigil of remembrance for the Obstetrics Unit at Henry County Medical Center (HCMC) at 6:30 p.m. Monday, September 4, Labor Day. The vigil will be held at the hospital.

The unit is set to close tomorrow, Sept. 1.

Hosted by Northwest Tennessee Cares and OB Doctors Pam Evans, Katherine Whitfield and Sandra Boxell, the event will honor the hospital’s Labor and Delivery Unit, its dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff, as well as the multitude of mothers who delivered there and the babies who took their first breaths within those walls. It also will mourn its closure.

“We are evoking the word ‘labor’ for this event, because no one works harder than a mother experiencing labor or the doctors and nurses laboring in unison for a positive outcome,” according to Rev. Caren Teichmann, President of NWTN Cares.
