Union City, Tenn.–A Union City native will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to start the 2023 World Series Friday night.
Maddox Harrold will be throwing out the first pitch to start the series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks in Arlington, Texas.
Harrold is 15 and now lives in Arlington. He was the 2023 Youth of the Year recipient for Tarrant County and was given the opportunity by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County.
He is the son of Youree Maddox Dickerson, a Union City High School graduate and University of Tennessee at Martin alumni, and Dante Harrold, also a UTM alum. And he is the grandson of Terrence Maddox and Pamela Maddox of Garland, Texas, as well as Teresa Lockridge Edwards and Willis Edwards of Martin, and he is the great-grandson of Ardell and Mary Maddox of Union City.
