Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has received a new piece of equipment to help combat contraband from entering the jail.
Sheriff Josh Frey said in a press release, “We received a body scanner that has been placed into the booking area of the jail. The scanner will be used on anyone being brought into the jail to check for anything they may have concealed within their body.”
The scanner has proven handy already.
On February 2, correctional officers were booking in a subject when the scanner found a pill bottle concealed on the inside of the subject’s body. The bottle was then removed by the subject. Charges are pending on this incident.
The body scanner was purchased with state grant funds.
