Get Your Farm Groove On Right In The City

Paris, Tenn.–The  W.G. Rhea Public Library will be holding a “Farm to City” program for all ages on Tuesday, March 12th from 4-7 pm.  The program will take place outside in the library’s parking lot and on the greenspace at LI Smith & Associates next door.  There also will be a drawing for giveaways throughout the afternoon.

Interested in container gardening or potted plants? Thinking about raising chickens in your backyard? Do you love baby farm animals?  You don’t have to live on a farm to take advantage of growing your own food or raising farm animals in your backyard; and the library is here to help you do just that. In partnership with the Henry County Extension office, the Henry County Farmer’s Market, Henry County 4-H Honor Students, Henry County Fair Association, Itty Bitty Trees, and community volunteers, the library will be offering demonstrations and information on these topics and more.

This program will be the “kick off” for the library’s new Seed Library Program.  The library will provide a variety of seeds to the community with the hope that people will plant those seeds, enjoy the harvested food, and save the seeds to bring back to the library to replenish our seed stock.  Donations of purchased seeds will also be gladly accepted.

There’s something for everyone at W.G. Rhea Public Library, and this program will be no exception.  With “sustainability” being a worthwhile effort in our community, the library strives to meet that need with information and resources available to everyone.  To learn more about this library program or library resources, please visit www.rheapubliclibrary.com or call the library at (731) 642-1702.
