Dover, Tenn.–The charges of aggravated rape and contributing to the deliquency of a minor have been transferred to the FBI from the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office in the case of Devin Gideon.
The FBI served Gideon with warrants last week immediately after charges by the Sheriff’s Office were dismissed.
According to Sheriff Frankie Gray the decision was made after the DA’s Office, FBI and the Sheriff’s Office agreed that it was more beneficial for the FBI to handle the case. Under Federal sentencing guidelines Gideon could have to serve a larger percentage amount of time as well as the fact the crime crossed state lines and the investigation is ongoing and other charges could be brought forth.
Gideon was picked up on Monday March 4th and taken to a federal prison.
According to Sheriff Gray, Investigator Saltkill did an outstanding job with this case and the charges against the female suspect who was involved Bayleigh Dollison were served when she was picked up in Nevada 2 weeks ago has charges there as well as felony charges in Texas. She will not be coming to Tennessee until her charges are dealt with by those 2 states. The investigation into the 2nd male suspect is still ongoing.
