Paris, Tenn.–Even with a definite chill in the air, a huge crowd was on hand Saturday for the annual Battle of Paris Commemoration and Living History Event in downtown Paris. Event Chairman James Swor said the event “was successful well beyond our expectations.” Exhibitors, volunteers and members of the crowd travelled from across Tennessee and Western Kentucky to join in the event. A highlight was demonstrations from the Porter’s Battery cannon and crew of Clarksville. Porter’s Battery was commanded by Captain Thomas Kennedy Porter Jr., the younger brother of Governor James D. Porter. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
