Henry County School Board Recognizes Reward Schools

co-reward

Paris, Tenn.–At a busy session Thursday night, the Henry County Schools board of education recognized the district’s Reward Schools. Harrelson and Lakewood Schools earned statewide Reward School status and their representatives were given plaques of excellence for their schools’ achievements.

Newly-appointed Homeland Security Agent for Henry County Jamie James was in attendance and said he will be visiting the district schools to discuss school safety. James is a former long-time officer with the Paris Police Department and began working for the State Homeland Security Office in January.

E.W. Grove students attended a STEM event sponsored by Murray State University’s Engineering Department. Students presented their Computer Science and STEM experiences to the board and explained how they were challenged to think outside the box and create projects that would introduce them to analytical thinking and the importance of teamwork. Last night’s meeting was held at Grove Schools.

One group of students was tasked with making a kayak from duct tape, Saran Wrap, and PCV pipe. The students were excited to report they came in 3rd place when racing against other teams.
