Paris, Tenn. – The Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association will host its Annual Mother’s Day Saturday Yard Sales, May 10, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., rain or shine.

“The number of sales and the diverse merchandise make this an entertaining and fruitful outing for all types of shoppers. Many of these sales are hosted by multiple families,” said President Rachel Terrell.

“In the past, an eclectic mix of items has been available, including antiques, kitchen items, architectural finds, clothing, household items, toys, tools, furniture, books, fishing equipment, jewelry, and more,” Terrell added.

While maps with the designated addresses will be posted on the group’s Facebook page (HAPNA of Atkins Porter Neighborhood) paper maps also will be available at each sale location. The neighborhood lies within a triangular footprint bordered by Veterans Drive/Market Street, East Wood Street and Tyson Avenue.

“One of the largest sales will be held at 501 Dunlap where many neighbors and friends donate items to help raise money exclusively for HAPNA,” according to Annette Douglas, the group’s treasurer. “This is an impactful way to support the efforts of this historic neighborhood association while also snagging some fantastic items and bargains.”

Shoppers are encouraged to park at the A.P. Recreation Center on Walnut and enjoy strolling the neighborhood’s historic, shady streets as they shop. “Many of these sales are within walking distance of each other, which is handy,” said Terrell.

HAPNA invites shoppers to pace themselves by taking a break in the Atkins-Porter Botanical Garden at 311 Jackson. “There are picnic tables under a pavilion, along with lovely, blooming trees, flowers and shrubs,” said Terrell. “Shoppers can enjoy walking the neighborhood’s shady streets, viewing the historic homes, and checking out HAPNA’s Little Free Library at the Paris Paws Dog Park on South Highland Street.”

The popular, neighborhood-wide, yard sale began in 2017 and takes place on Mother’s Day weekend each year. It has become a fun tradition for friends and families alike.

Yard sales will be held rain or shine.
