Cottage Grove, Tenn.–A Cottage Grove shop building was a total loss Monday evening as Cottage Grove Volunteer firefighters were called to the fire during their regular training session.
The night started as normal with their bi-weekly fire training, training on water drafting from a creek and then about an hour into it, it turned into the REAL thing!”, according to the Fire Department’s Facebook page.
At around 8 PM, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at the 1000 block of Wiggins Rd. in Cottage Grove. “We quickly dropped what we were doing at training to head to the call. We arrived on scene to find a single story office/shop building fully engulfed. We were on scene for 3 1/2 hours. It was a total loss.”
Seven trucks along with 17 firefighters responded as well as mutual aid from Puryear Fire Dept with 2 trucks and 6 firefighters and also Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
