Murray, Ky.–A suspect was injured late Monday night after he allegedly charged at Murray Police while armed with a knife. The officer shot the suspect, who was transported to the hospital.

On June 16th at approximately 11:45 PM, Murray Police Department officers responded to Brooklyn Drive in regards to an out-of-control subject who was armed with a knife.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect was alone inside an apartment.

Before contact could be made with him, he exited the apartment and charged at officers while armed with a knife.  A Murray Police Officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect.

The suspect was then taken into custody and transported to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where he received treatment for injuries.

In accordance with established Murray Police Department Policies and Procedures, the Kentucky State Police was requested to respond to the scene to conduct an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting.  Murray Police Department Detectives are conducting a separate criminal investigation into the suspect’s actions.  Further information will be released when it is available.
