
MCKENZIE, Tenn. -Fresh out of Missouri Valley College and an outstanding volleyball career, Momoko Yokoyama has been hired to be the new assistant volleyball coach at Bethel University.
Yokoyama played for four years at MVC as a Defensive Specialist/Libero. During this time, she was honored as a Scholar Athlete and consistently named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence. She majored in Exercise Science.
Momoko played volleyball for a total of thirteen years, including nine years in Japan and four years in the United States. In Japan, she attended a high-level volleyball school and was selected as an outstanding student in the field of physical education and sports during her high school years. She was named a Scholar Athlete and named to the Dean’s List during her prep career.
Yokoyama said, “I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve as an assistant coach under Coach Michele’s extensive experience and proven track record during her career here at Bethel. I will learn much from her while respecting each player’s aspirations and supporting their growth” She added, “Though this is my first coaching role, I am both excited and a little nervous; I will always give my best to contribute to the team’s success.”
Coach Michele Cunha said, “We are very excited Momoko is joining us. She has a great attitude, and we will be great fit for our program. She is eager to learn and although this is her first coaching job, she knows the game and will share that with our ladies throughout the season.”
