
Marvin Crowder, age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in Jackson, TN. A University of Memphis graduate, Marvin was a career educator, teaching mathematics and physics at both the high school and college levels. He was always eager to engage with any student who showed an interest in mathematics. Marvin was of the Baptist faith and served as a Deacon for several years. He also served his country in the Army Reserves. Until his health began to fail, he greatly enjoyed living in Wears Valley, TN, where he cherished the mountain views and the friendships he made there, particularly with John and Yvonne Peychal.
Marvin was born on October 30, 1940, in Greenwood, MS, to Clyde L. and Mayble Johnson Crowder, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Scott Allen Crowder, three brothers, and three sisters and nephew Mark Norwood.
On June 6, 1965, he married Martha Norwood Crowder, who survives him. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jerry Norwood (Linda), sister-in-law Rosa Crowder, niece Stacey Norwood, niece Pam Crowder Bryson (Tom), nephew Jimmy Crowder (Ladonna), great-nephew Lidell Crowder, and great-niece Rebecca Tenry.
A graveside committal service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mansfield, TN.
