PARIS, TN — The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter of Henry County High School today announced the successful conclusion of its Annual Canned Food Drive, providing a significant boost to the Henry County Food Bank.
The drive, which ran from November 3rd through November 14th, rallied the entire student body and faculty to support the local service. While the chapter aimed for a goal of 1,000 cans, participants ended the day with an impressive total of 888 cans collected.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity and community spirit shown by our students, teachers, and staff,” said Janet Pearce, FCCLA Advisor. “Every can collected supports local families, and we thank everyone for always supporting this extremely important service project.”
The annual event featured two popular competitions to engage participants:
Most Cans Collected: The competitive spirit was high, with Mrs. Safin’s class taking home the prize for most cans collected, bringing in a phenomenal total of 141 cans.
Best “Can”struction Design: Creativity flourished in the “can”struction design challenge. Mrs. Dunn’s class was awarded first place for their highly realistic and imaginative wishing-well, complete with a clever Walmart bag “bucket.”
The FCCLA chapter noted the designs were highly creative and fun to watch as students worked together to build their structures.
