Martin, Tenn.–Martin’s long-time Economic and Community Development Director Brad Thompson resigned Tuesday afternoon before last night’s special meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. A large number of citizens were on hand at the meeting, with several voicing their views of the recently-reported happenings in city government.
Thompson reportedly submitted his resignation after learning that Board Members would be dismissing him.
The meeting had been called to discuss Thompson’s future with the city after he, former Mayor Randy Brundige and Brundige’s daughter were indicted on multiple charges of theft, official misconduct and fraud. Brundige resigned earlier. The trio were indicted upon an investigation by the State Comptroller’s Office.
Thompson submitted a letter of resignation listing a lengthy litany of his accomplishments for the city over the past 14 years. He also said he worked with the approval of the Mayor, Board and the city’s legal counsel.
Meanwhile, all three issued ‘not guilty’ pleas in Weakley County Circuit Court earlier this week.
