The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that Kentuckians may now download Kentucky Mobile ID, a secure digital version of a state ID. This mobile ID can be used at TSA checkpoints at more than 250 airports nationwide for air travel.
Under Kentucky law (KRS), law enforcement officers can only accept a physical (hard copy) driver’s license during a traffic stop. A digital ID does not replace your physical license when driving.
Even if you use Mobile ID, always carry a hard copy of your driver’s license with you when you drive. This is a reminder from the Kentucky State Police.
